Relay for Life

Okay, in our community we had the Relay for Life and it was so much fun. The Relay for Life is this run to help fundraise for cancer. I didn't actually join any of the teams, but I was invited as an unofficial member of the team called "Sarah's World". Emma joined it and invited me and they were happy for my company. Now it was all fun and stuff, but we can't just leave out the real meaning. Everyone who knew anyone who died of cancer came to help the cause. We raised over six hundred thousand dollars! I was happy to be considered a part of such a thing. A band came and performed during the day (it lasted all day) and played some music, like 'Walk Like An Egyptian' and all that stuff. Me and Emma started in front of the stage just randomly, but gradually other kids joined us. Mostly they were toddlers and it was so cute! I swear they're gonna be on 'So You Think You Can Dance' as soon as they're old enough. I met a girl called Anjalia, and she was so cool. I made a bag there for my Grandpa Zandbergen. That means that I made a tribute to him and everyone could see just how much I loved him, even though I never met him. This post is way too long now, isn't it? Oh, who cares. The team Sarah's World came in like the top twenty teams to raise money. Bronze level. I thought that was really cool. They didn't pay it much thought. It was all Sarah's relatives, so I suppose to them it just seemed like raising money for Sarah. To help others. Something any person should do. I think I will, just for the cause. Anyway, the most peaceful part of it was at the end. That was when all the bags that everyone made to represent a loved one had a candle in it, and the candle was lit. The bags were glowing in the dark. Everyone had a candle and they were walking around the stadium in silence. There were a bunch of bags lined up on the stands and they were all lit. From far away, it spelled 'hope'. It was a really moving experience. I wrote a poem for it. I'll write it in a different post. Anyways, it was fun in the daytime, with fooling around and dodge ball and dancing and crafts and face painting and the list could go on. But at night the real meaning came to light. In all the bags, lined around the stadium.
